A View From The Top… Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim

Forget about the humid heat and scorching sun, this year Miami was HOT, HOT, HOT with all things swim. After stopping by the tents and the convention center, I found myself at The Shore Club with an all access pass to the hottest 2011 swim collections.

Welcome to the Shore Club Penthouse (CHECK OUT THIS STUPID FAB VIEW!!!) where signature sips were poured (my favorite the LUXE Watermelon Basil Martini), small bites were served and rooftop manicures and pedicures (by Glamour by J’s) were offered. Talk about getting the royal treatment, right? While overlooking the Atlantic, I browsed through the endless racks and grids, which featured the latest looks from St. John, LUXE by Lisa Vogel, Ella Moss Isla, Spendid, Athena Pick Your Fit, Tommy Hilfiger, NEXT by Athena, Guess, Hurley and Reef…and let me tell you, this new swim season is packed with pop and punch!

Talk-about Trends For 2011…

All American – highlighting stand out stripes (NEXT by Athena), girly gingham (Guess) and feminine fatigues (LUXE by Lisa Vogel)

Twisted Tribal – showcasing feathered skin prints (LUXE by Lisa Vogel), safari chic patterns (Ella Moss), earthy hues, beads (Reef) and braiding

Lingerie Looks – featuring show-off swim with lots of lace, striking cutouts and embellishments (Guess)

I also saw tons of ruching, draping and mixed prints for 2011.

My favorite collection this season? LUXE by Lisa Vogel…hands down! This season, Lisa Vogel blurs the boundaries by taking an alternate approach to design and construction, raising the swim standard and putting LUXE by Lisa Vogel in a class of its own. Ideal for the modern beach sophisticate, the high fashion swimwear creates a niche where quality, detail, fit and support are just as important as fashionable design. These runway worthy suits are produced with cutting edge treatments and applications and are adorned with rust and heat resistant hardware and jewelry. The third year collection highlights three trends: Worldly Peace, Resort Fiji and Who’s That Lady. For 2011, Lisa Vogel introduces four new silhouettes: the “Riviera” string pant (a higher cut bottom), the asymmetrical bandeau bra, the underwire bra and the peek-a-boo maillot (similar to her bestselling tankini silhouette).

On Saturday, July 16th, Mercedes Benz honored LUXE by Lisa Vogel and Oceana with a Swim Exclusive at the Raleigh Penthouse. Guests (including Hilary Rhoda, Sports Illustrated Model) celebrated Lisa’s new collection (which goes on sale on SwimSpot.com along with their fab lines this fall) in hopes of raising awareness and funds for Oceana - the largest international non-profit organization focused solely on ocean conservation.

The event announced a new relationship between Luxe and Oceana where a percentage of proceeds from a special Luxe collection will be donated to Oceana.

It will be hard to get Miami off my mind, as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim was definitely a splash!

See you in swim!

With Slim-Power lining and shirring details, Athena’s new collection gives you the right amount of tummy control and will help cover up all those imperfections for those days at the beach. • Look Good, Feel GoodFall is finally here! Time to dig up those scarves, boots, and cardigans buried deep inside your closet. In terms of fashion, this is definitely my favorite time of year – I especially love the bold pops of color that are trending this season. And of course, the layers! But unfortunately, being bundled up in sweaters and coats doesn’t quite give me the motivation to work out. I won’t be sporting a bikini any time soon anyways so what’s the point, right? Wrong! We’re all aiming for that perfect beach body once Spring rolls along, so why not start working for it now? Getting toned and fit is a gradual process—although I’m sure we all wish it would happen overnight. Swimsuit season will be coming around the corner before you know it, so save yourself from the intense dieting and exercise the week before spring break and start now!
  • Feelin' Nautical?Feelin' nautical? Hit the deck with Nautica's Classic Solids Underwire One Piece Bathing Suit! This slimming one piece suit sports an underwire feature to provide optimal support, comfort, and fit. The white straps create a great contrast against the navy and the sweetheart neckline sets an irresistible modern twist on this maillot. To cover up, try Nautica's Under the Sea Tunic. The white and navy stripe print of the tunic perfectly compliments the solid suit, creating a chic sailor look.
