Bikram Yoga, otherwise known as hot yoga just might be too hot for the average person. Where originally the studios are kept at a sweltering 105 degrees, and 40 percent humidity some studios are deciding to turn down the heat, but still keep up the intensity. Take it from celebs like Jennifer Anniston and Madonna whose bodies clearly show the results.
Some could argue that high heat is what Bikram Yoga stands for, and why people look forward to the class. But could potential customers be turned off from too much heat being turned on?!
Here are some Pro’s and Con’s to this ongoing trend of “Hot Yoga;”
Pros:
*The heat helps you complete the ultimate detox releasing stubborn toxins in your body that can only be released during heavy sweating.
*The heat also allows greater movement in your body, making stretching much easier and allowing you to lengthen your body.
*Self control, will power, and overall self esteem can increase. By being able to endure such a tough technique you never thought was possible, each and every class you’re building not only your body but your spirits.
Cons:
*We as humans are only supposed to withstand certain temperatures, when past 100 degrees we start to damage proteins and obviously become dehydrated and instantly overwhelmed.
*Necessary fluids are the only things lost at the end of the class instead of weight (the reason you’re enduring the heat.)
*Some believe it should be more spiritual and that is lacks “mind-body-oneness.”
So, you decide, is Bikram yoga for you?
