Boys of Summer

Have you ever wondered what men REALLY think about the swimwear styles us ladies like to wear?  What colors, styles, and prints they find most appealing?  While on assignment for SwimSpot I took to the beaches and the pool to get the scoop straight from the source.  Who better to ask then "The Beach Patrol",  lifeguards and handsome men poolside?  The results are rather interesting, entertaining and enlightening!!  So, pull up a beach chair because I'm ready to serve up the bikini beautiful scoop!!  By the way, I'm wearing the Guess Party in My Cabana bikini with golden accented straps and the Reef Bahia dress, both from SwimSpot (everyone was complimenting me on this look all weekend). The perfect easy-breezy summer look.

Dave:  "I really like black bikini's. A particular one that stands out in my mind is that swimsuit in the movie, "The Hangover." I prefer solid bikinis on women -- I just like them better."   Verdict: Sleek black is in!  The Ella Moss Topanga bikini is the style that Dave prefers!

Grant: "Attitude is the most important accessory any woman can have on the beach. When I see someone in a bikini and they have confidence -- I can tell.  I like blonde's in white bikinis and I like brunettes in tropical blue.  I actually take notice of these things -- It's kind of funny, come to think of it!"  Verdict:  Confidence is key.  This Luxe by Lisa Vogel D'orsay style is what captures Grant's eye.

   

Matt the Lifeguard: "Working on the beach all day I see a  lot of swimwear!  My favorite style is the Cameron Diaz surfer-look. There is something about that style that I really like.  I think girls think they need to wear tiny bikinis to look appealing -- not true. Boy short/surfer girl styles are some of my favorites."  Verdict: Less isn't always more.  Hurley's Look Both Ways boy-short style is what Matt's talking about!
 
    

Dave and Jeff, poolside:  Dave (left), Jeff (right).  Dave said "I like string bikini's and solid colors. I also like a girl that has a personality in what she wears. Someone who looks comfortable in her bathing suit.  Jeff added, "I think a one-piece can look nice and now they have all of these cut-out styles -- it's kind of cool. I also like prints."  Verdict: String bikinis are always "hot" and so are the newer monokini (one-piece) styles.  The Splendid pink Retro Stripe bikini is the look that Dave "digs" and the Guess Chain Gang One-piece is the newer style one-piece that guys like Jeff most admire.

I certainly learned a lot from all of these "Boys of Summer."  It's interesting to delve into the male fashion mind and find out what they think.  The underlying message is that confidence is a key ingredient to your summer beach look.  Finding the best swim-style that works for you also plays an important role.
