Turning Up the Heat for Spring Break 2011

With spring seeming to be apparent in the next few weeks, it looks like spring break vacations are just around the corner. Although the sun is shining, temperatures here in Orange County are still in the low 60’s and we all wish Spring Break would come sooner. Last year for spring break I packed my bags and did a simple trip to the Palm Springs Desert to soak up the sun in the 100 degree weather with a group of my girlfriends. This year, I decided that I wanted to plan on traveling to more of an upbeat and tropical location for spring break. The hardest part about planning for spring break is trying to narrow down your choices. With so much to do and not enough time in the day, here are a couple necessities from head to toe that I would pack in my bags for the ultimate 2011 Spring Break vacation.

This year, I’ve narrowed down my choices to two locations. First is to the white sandy beaches of Miami, Florida. Miami has a tropical climate with hot and humid summers, warm winters, and an even better spring.  My other choice for spring break is Saint Lucia. The island of volcanic origin, this is the perfect island to vacation on for a more relaxing and subtle spring break. Located in the Caribbean’s, St. Lucia is known for its black sand beaches, a must-see for all visitors. Since both travel spots are completely different in their own extraordinary way, it’s no doubt that it will be hard to choose between the two.
Whether I choose the simmering heat of Miami or some R&R in St. Lucia, these designer swimwear choices as well as must-have items for my beach tote will have me looking like a beach sophisticate.

In the Reef Feel the Rhythm Cross Back Sports Bra and Ring Side Bikini Bottom, you’ll turn heads and feel amazing in this one-of-a-kind two-piece swimsuit. This tribal ombre print swimsuit is perfect for South Beach with its bright bold pattern that shows off my wild side.

For a more feminine touch, the Ella Moss Rainforest Bandeau Bikini Top and Strip Bikini Bottom does justice to just that. This bandeau bikini has wood beads and a tropical inspired print that is the perfect bikini to sport on the beautiful relaxing beaches of the Caribbean islands.

The Reef Tropic Reversible Bikini Top and Tie Side Bikini Bottom, another great pick for Miami Beach, combines blanket stripes and gold foil accents that could catch anyone’s attention in the light and also embodies the warm sultry climate of Florida’s hot spot.

To keep my face moisturized while basking in the sun, I won’t leave my resort room without the Laura Mercier ‘Flawless Skin’ Mega Moisturizer SPF 15 in my tote. What’s nice about this product is you can choose the one that matches your skin type from oily to normal/combination.

Sometimes getting that ‘just left the beach’ hair while on the beach is hard to achieve, make it easy with Fekkai ‘Marine Summer Hair’ Beach Waves. This product creates the sexy surf texture and also hydrates and prevents your hair from fading. I’m guaranteed to look like a local with beach waves.

To polish off my look, the palette of bright shades of rose will compliment my sun-kissed skin. The Chantecaille ‘Les Delices de Rose’ Lip Gloss Palette moisturizes and goes great day or night.

Equipped with all these necessities in my tote, I’ll be ready for a fun and relaxing spring break. With all the extra time I have after packing, I can even start planning my summer vacation!

xoxo, Shawna

In terms of fashion, this is definitely my favorite time of year – I especially love the bold pops of color that are trending this season. And of course, the layers! But unfortunately, being bundled up in sweaters and coats doesn’t quite give me the motivation to work out. I won’t be sporting a bikini any time soon anyways so what’s the point, right? Wrong! We’re all aiming for that perfect beach body once Spring rolls along, so why not start working for it now? Getting toned and fit is a gradual process—although I’m sure we all wish it would happen overnight.
