Just when you think you can’t beat the heat any longer, think again! We at SwimSpot know just how hot it can be poolside, so we’ve gathered all the necessities to keep you cool and collected. Now you can relax and enjoy some time by the water!
Body Mist
To prevent a minor heat stroke be sure to pack a body mist in your tote. Try my favorite – Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Body Mist. When stocking up on body mists, be sure to purchase products that contain mint or menthol. It will instantly make your skin feel frosty and tingly.

Eye Cream
When I’m hanging out poolside, I want to look like I’m relaxed. Nothing bugs me more than those pesky under-eye bags. Keep those bags away from underneath your eyes with a soothing eye cream. Stash the skin care in the fridge to get your eyes de-puffy in no time!

Water- Can’t Get Enough of It
As much as we stress this here at The Spot, I too am guilty of not getting enough H2O. When the temperatures rise we often don’t drink enough water to keep ourselves hydrated. Getting light headed and feeling like you’re going to faint is never fun. Make sure you are taking in extra water. Don’t forget eating fruits such as watermelon will help keep you hydrated- not to mention put you in a summery mood!

Lip Balm
This tip couldn’t be easier to practice! When applying sunscreen be sure to slather it on your lips or use a lip balm with SPF. Keeping your lips from getting dried out and cracked will give you that collected look you need. Try finding a lip balm that has sunscreen as well as a pop of color. I recommend Burt’s Bees Sun Protecting Lip Balm or any lip balm with at least SPF 15.

Swim
If the scorching summer time temps are keeping you from working out, try taking a dip in the pool. Swimming works almost every muscle in your body. For me, non-targeted workouts have the most effect on my body, so jumping into the pool is my favorite way to exercise. To torch the most calories try doing the butterfly or breast stroke. Maybe you can even talk some of your friends into doing a water aerobics class with you! So throw on your chlorine resistant swimwear and take a dive into the fresh pool water.
These necessities for the dog days of summer will keep you looking and feeling your best! A friendly reminder – when exercising in the scorching heat be sure to do it either early morning or late evening to keep from overheating.
