Frilly Trends From the Golden Globes

Although the bright lights and the Hollywood buzz of the Golden Globes have come and gone, here at SwimSpot we can’t keep our minds off of the fabulous designer gowns and jewels that dawned the red carpet this past Sunday.  Here are a couple trends that the stars did justice at this A-list event.

Our friends at StyleSpot spotted the trend of bows at the Golden Globes this year as it made its comeback on stars like Emma Stone, Nicole Kidman, and Heidi Klum. While bows have their reputation of being girly, romantic, and innocent, these red carpet savvy stars spiced up this look wearing bows cinched around their waists as belts, on theirs shoulders, and shoes.
This Ella Moss Bandeau Bikini Top and Skirted Solid Bikini Bottom play with the girly trend with its bow and ruffles.

Another trend that braved the red carpet was ruffles.  Romantic ruffles cascaded through the red carpet as well as the celebs. Even though she didn’t take home the award for Best Actress in a TV Comedy/Musical, actress Lea Michelle looked sexy and sophisticated in this salmon colored Oscar De La Renta gown and Christian Louboutin heels.  You can get the same romantic ruffle look in the Luxe by Lisa Vogel Solaia Triangle Bikini Top and Tie Side Bikini Bottom.

All women want to look great flaunting their natural curves. While ruffles do justice to some, shirred sides are all the rage. Actress Mila Kunis looked amazing in this emerald green Vera Wang gown and by far was my favorite look that night. Its shirred bust and waist detailing gave dimension to her petite frame while at the same time enhanced in all the right places.  In the St. John Solidly Elegant Asymmetrical One Piece Swimsuit,  you can get Mila’s one shoulder breathtaking shirred look poolside or on your next weekend getaway.

There you have it! With more hits than misses at this past Sunday’s award show, I can’t wait to see what fabulous looks the celebs at the Academy Awards have to offer! Until then, I will be dreaming of glitz and glamour!

  • Look Good, Feel GoodFall is finally here! Time to dig up those scarves, boots, and cardigans buried deep inside your closet. In terms of fashion, this is definitely my favorite time of year – I especially love the bold pops of color that are trending this season. And of course, the layers! But unfortunately, being bundled up in sweaters and coats doesn’t quite give me the motivation to work out. I won’t be sporting a bikini any time soon anyways so what’s the point, right? Wrong! We’re all aiming for that perfect beach body once Spring rolls along, so why not start working for it now? Getting toned and fit is a gradual process—although I’m sure we all wish it would happen overnight. Swimsuit season will be coming around the corner before you know it, so save yourself from the intense dieting and exercise the week before spring break and start now!
