New Year, New Fashion

Whether you’re strutting down the catwalk or heading to your afternoon lectures on campus, you should always try to look your best – not for the cute guy sitting in the corner, but for YOU! I know I definitely do. With the start of 2011, many new fashion trends have come along with it. Here are a few of my fave looks – from the city streets to the beachy boardwalks.

Biker Chic

One of my can’t-live-without looks off the runway is the motorcycle inspired look. Edgy pieces with studs, lots of leather, and zippers definitely will bring out your inner Biker Babe. Get this look by wearing dark jeans, a white tee embellished with some studs, the must-have leather jacket and black boots and you’re well on your way to biker chic!

Now on the women’s swimsuit front, I ROCK Reef’s black triangle bikini set which has nail head embellishments. Motorcycle meet swim – and into the water we roll!

Ditsy Prints & All Mixed Up

It’s different and it’s cute. Anything goes with this look; as long as you stick with one to two colors, or a few in the same family, your friends will ask, “When did you become such the Fashionista?” Pair a cute and fun multi-colored print dress with a jacket and heels and you are ready for a day out shopping or gabbing over lunch with some friends.

This bikini by Splendid keeps the look alive around the pool. Ditsy and darling is a huge trend for the Spring/Summer season. And don’t forget to mix it up with SwimSpot’s very own Bikini Builder!

Citrus Colors

You’ll surely turn heads with these bright colors and look as vibrantly cute as can be. Vivid yellow, orange, and lime greens are must haves for your 2011 swimwear wardrobe. Whether you buy a sundress, boardshorts or bikini in these colors, you’ll demand attention poolside. So be ready for all the undying attention.

Soaking up the sun and want to show off your sun-kissed skin? Be sure to wear this yellow bikini by Ella Moss for a citrusy sweet look. And when it’s time to head in for the day layer on the Endless Summer Kylie Dress by Ella Moss. The perfect bathing suit cover up to take you from the sand to shopping.

Here’s to having another excuse to go shop and spend last week’s paycheck while also prepping up new looks to look radiant this season! I’m on my way to the boutique right now to pick up my moto-inspired beach ensemble.

  • Look Good, Feel GoodFall is finally here! Time to dig up those scarves, boots, and cardigans buried deep inside your closet. In terms of fashion, this is definitely my favorite time of year – I especially love the bold pops of color that are trending this season. And of course, the layers! But unfortunately, being bundled up in sweaters and coats doesn’t quite give me the motivation to work out. I won’t be sporting a bikini any time soon anyways so what’s the point, right? Wrong! We’re all aiming for that perfect beach body once Spring rolls along, so why not start working for it now? Getting toned and fit is a gradual process—although I’m sure we all wish it would happen overnight. Swimsuit season will be coming around the corner before you know it, so save yourself from the intense dieting and exercise the week before spring break and start now!
