Swimwear - Past and Present

This week’s post is a montage dedicated to swimwear past and present. We’re spanning through the swimwear style of the decades and will highlight on the iconic looks. The forever known one piece red Baywatch suit will be sure to make its way to the top of our list. We’ll give you ideas on how to bring back these looks with our summer collection at SwimSpot.com.

Bettie Page has graced several magazines with her dark locks and bright smile. She frequently posed for photographers Jan Caldwell, H.W. Hannau, and Bunny Yeager with backgrounds that encompassed boats, beach and outdoors. She always sported pin-up, 1950’s swimwear. To get Bettie’s look try the Guess Cat’s Meow Halter Top and Retro Bottom. Dye your hair dark, get a vivid red lip and slip into the Guess swimsuit. You’re set to rock the ‘Bettie’ look.

In 1992 Baywatch took over America television. Everyone tuned in to watch the Los Angeles County Lifeguards patrol the beaches. Better yet, everyone tuned in to watch Pamela in her fire-engine-red one piece swimsuit. This babe had it all; blonde hair, blue eyes, and a banging’ bod. The Tommy Hilfiger Swimsuit is the exact fire-engine-red of Pamela’s suit. PS – SwimSpot.com will have a new Tommy Hilfiger one-piece suit hitting the site within the next week. You could most definitely be Pamela’s double in this red-hot ensemble.

Bling bling. Marissa Miller rocked a 3 million dollar look that featured champagne, cognac and white diamonds. Yes, real diamonds my friend! Besides wearing 150 carats on her chest, she’s been in Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Edition. To get some shine and sparkle for yourself try the Guess Handle with Flare Triangle Bikini Top and Tie Side Bottom. This suit has antique nail heads and rhinestone detail. Sorry no real diamonds, but you can go in the water with this Guess bikini!

Forget the straps. On trend for this decade is the bandeau swimsuit. Most bandeau tops have removable straps, which is perfect when you are having a layout session. You can take off the strap so you don’t get that unwanted tan line. Celebs like Whitney Port, Jennifer Aniston and Hillary Duff are obsessed with bandeau tops. If you want to get the perfect suit for Spring Break be sure to get the Ella Moss Monet Bandeau Top and Monet Retro Bikini Bottom. This swimsuit not only has the bandeau trend going for it, it also has the hottest trend of all, floral.

Whether you are off to South Padre for spring break or chilling poolside on the weekend with your kiddies, be sure you have the latest version of these iconic suits.

  • Look Good, Feel GoodFall is finally here! Time to dig up those scarves, boots, and cardigans buried deep inside your closet. In terms of fashion, this is definitely my favorite time of year – I especially love the bold pops of color that are trending this season. And of course, the layers! But unfortunately, being bundled up in sweaters and coats doesn’t quite give me the motivation to work out. I won’t be sporting a bikini any time soon anyways so what’s the point, right? Wrong! We’re all aiming for that perfect beach body once Spring rolls along, so why not start working for it now? Getting toned and fit is a gradual process—although I’m sure we all wish it would happen overnight. Swimsuit season will be coming around the corner before you know it, so save yourself from the intense dieting and exercise the week before spring break and start now!
