Thank You SwimSpot!

Hey Everyone,

My name is Alana Long and I am an intern here at SwimSpot.  I love it!  Some girls love shoes, some love purses, I on the other hand LOVE bathing suits so I am definitely working at the right place.  Every day I get to be around bikinis and see the new products and trends, so I can be the cutest most stylish on the beach.  I get to study which celebrities are wearing what and have learned what bathing suit looks best on each different type of body.

So a little bit about me…. I am from Tustin, CA, which means I am only 25 minutes from my favorite beach in Orange County - Huntington Beach.I definitely know how to take advantage of living in the beach filled county of Orange. I enjoy playing competitive beach volleyball tournaments during the summer which take place all around California.  I have competed at different beaches including Laguna, Manhattan, Dockweiler, Long Beach, Huntington, Doheny, Santa Barbara, San Diego and Santa Cruz.  A team consists of two players.  My partner and I live for this sport and have been for 6 years.  We compete against girls who are 6”3, yet we are only 5”9 on a good day hahaha!

This sport requires you to be in epic shape because there are only two people to cover the entire volleyball court.  It is in the sand which means you have to jump higher to get out of the sand and into the air.  You have to be fast, tricky and determined to win every rally.   But one of the most important things about beach volleyball is the Bikini that you are wearing.  Since you are playing from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the bathing suit needs to be supportive, comfortable and most importantly CUTE!

This was the bikini I wore in my last tournament in Manhattan Beach.  The Hurley One and Only Double String Triangle Bikini.  The lime color made me stand out on the beach, which I loved.  It was comfortable and had double string ties that gave me the support that I needed to dive in the sand and get every ball up.  The bottom is fitting so I can move around and play my best game.  I love this bikini and recommend it to ALL!!
For my next tournament on July 10th in Long Beach, I plan on wearing the Hurley Serengeti Halter Bikini.  This animal print will have me roaring in Long Beach.  I know I am going to intimidate my competitors with this swimsuit.  It has removable soft cups and a fierce contempo racer-back that gives this bikini support and the extra touch that I love.

After July 10th, I hopefully will get to report back if my partner and I won any prizes!

So if you are ever wanting to get out and exercise and get your tan on as well, Beach Volleyball is the sport for YOU!  It is fun and exciting.  So go to a beach near you and join a pickup game, meet some new people and get bronzed and toned as you play.

Hope to see you in Huntington, I will be at the courts by the Pier repping by SwimSpot bathing suits and beating all the guys!

Xoxo,
Alana

  • Look Good, Feel GoodFall is finally here! Time to dig up those scarves, boots, and cardigans buried deep inside your closet. In terms of fashion, this is definitely my favorite time of year – I especially love the bold pops of color that are trending this season. And of course, the layers! But unfortunately, being bundled up in sweaters and coats doesn’t quite give me the motivation to work out. I won’t be sporting a bikini any time soon anyways so what’s the point, right? Wrong! We’re all aiming for that perfect beach body once Spring rolls along, so why not start working for it now? Getting toned and fit is a gradual process—although I’m sure we all wish it would happen overnight. Swimsuit season will be coming around the corner before you know it, so save yourself from the intense dieting and exercise the week before spring break and start now!
