Time For Some Fun? Go to the OC FAIR!!

The OC Fair is what I have been waiting for all summer.  I have been craving the excitement since last year after I went many times with my friends and family.  The smell of the deep fried oreo is something I cannot forget.  Some of my best memories have been at this FAIR!!  And guess what…it’s back.

I went on opening weekend and though it was packed it was worth it.  This fair is what you would think of when you think “Fair” except way bigger and way better.  The OC Fair has the greatest and craziest food ever, huge rides, eye-popping exhibits, animals, magic shows, acrobats and free concerts.   You can even buy tickets for major concerts and sports events to watch at the Pacific Amphitheatre neighboring the fair.  Your concert ticket includes admission too so that’s a plus.  The only sad thing is that this fair only lasts 23 days.

To give you a little taste of the OC Fair, I am going to tell you how I spent last Saturday.  Since general admission is $11, I wanted to get my money’s worth so I arrived at 3pm and stayed until midnight!  When you walk into this fair, you will be blown away.  There is so much to look at that you won’t know where to start.  But people watching is one of the greatest things to do here.  I have seen some of the craziest people at the fair which is some great free entertainment.  Since there is crazy people there has to be crazy exhibits so Saturday I got to witness my first PIG RACE!!!! There is actually a track for pigs to run and jump over obstacles.  I even got a coupon from Ralphs for free bacon hahaha!!

After walking around this huge place it was time for some food.  As you know fair food is not healthy but that’s the point, since you may only go a couple times you should make it worth it.  This year the OC Fair even featured fusion street food from Southern California's top gourmet food trucks and had cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs.  But nothing could stop me from my favorite thing…the Deep-Fried Oreo with chocolate sauce, sprinkles and whip cream.  Who knew that could taste so good?

When it comes to the Orange County Fair, you can count on wacky, artery-aching fried foods so this year is no exception.  Every year the food vendors introduce a new crazy food.  One year it was Deep Fried Coke, deep fried butter and Chocolate-covered bacon but this year has only gotten crazier.  There is deep-fried brownies, deep-fried Kool-Aid, chocolate-dipped corn dogs, fried ribs, a Babe Ruth stuffed jalapeño, deep-fried Girl Scout cookies and beer-battered bacon, how do they think of all this?  So head over to the Heart attack café and try a crazy never before seen fried food and tell me how it was.

Next it was time to ride some huge roller coasters and try not to get sick.  Luckily I was good since I didn’t have the fried butter.  It was time for a free show so I went to watch the Peking acrobats as they bent into impossible positions.  After that I saw a comedy hypnotist show and that I have to say was my favorite show ever!  It was so entertaining and if you want to be hypnotized just raise your hand.  After much more people-watching, delicious food and a couple more rides it was time to go.  I am excited to say I am going back this Thursday with my boyfriend and we are going to have a blast.

So if you have not already gone to the fair this year…What are you waiting for?  I promise you that you will have the greatest day or night.  So go with a big group of friends, some family or on a fun date and enjoy the OC Fair.   Wear comfortable clothes, bring sunscreen and celebrate this summer right!!!!

  • Look Good, Feel GoodFall is finally here! Time to dig up those scarves, boots, and cardigans buried deep inside your closet. In terms of fashion, this is definitely my favorite time of year – I especially love the bold pops of color that are trending this season. And of course, the layers! But unfortunately, being bundled up in sweaters and coats doesn’t quite give me the motivation to work out. I won’t be sporting a bikini any time soon anyways so what’s the point, right? Wrong! We’re all aiming for that perfect beach body once Spring rolls along, so why not start working for it now? Getting toned and fit is a gradual process—although I’m sure we all wish it would happen overnight.
