Sniffle season is upon us, so you’ve probably sprayed your office with Lysol and are steering clear of sneezing strangers on the subway. Keep in mind you need to build up your immune system as well, so it can fight off the viruses that break through that heavy cloud of Lysol.

Tea Time
Three to four cups a day will keep the doctor away. The polyphenols in tea improve the effectiveness of white blood cells. So stock up on your favorite flavors because it’s gonna be a long winter.
Veg on Veggies
Mushrooms and broccoli are your key veggies to keep you out of the doctor’s office this flu season. Why mushrooms? They enhance the immune system and fight off the flu bug. Broccoli and cauliflower boost white blood cells and help defend the body against free radical damage. So don’t be shy, ask for an extra helping of veggies at supper.
Hit the Sack
If you feel like you’re catching your co-workers cold, be sure to opt for more sleep at night. Just like your mom’s been saying all along, you need to slow down and catch up on your sleep. Studies show that people who get less than 7 hours of sleep a night are 3 times more likely to catch a cold. So change out of your work clothes and into your PJ’s and catch up on those ZZZ’s.
Exercise
Exercise not only helps keep your body looking bikini ready, it also helps boost your immune system. So even though you don’t have to wear a designer bikini now, you still have a reason to hit the gym.
Bottom line, remember the simple things you learned in kindergarten. Wash your hands, eat your veggies, and nap time is just as important as recess. Here’s to a sniffle free Fall.
XoXo,
Nikki
