Today is My Day!

Happy Fourth of July! Hope everyone is having a great holiday and being safe! So not only is today a special day for the country, but it is also my special day AKA my birthday! In the past years I have spent my birthday roasting at Disneyland, at my family’s river house, at our beach house, at friend’s parties, at local sports parks, at UC Davis for a volleyball tournament, and of course at my own house with my family.  Being born on this day definitely has its perks and lows.  It’s a bummer when everyone is out of town, but there is definitely always somewhere to go!

This year I’ve decided to remain in Orange County with my family for a little house party with some friends and save the vacation for another weekend! I’ll be lounging by the pool, snacking on veggies, and drinking ice cold lemonades.  My house will consist of the men barbecuing, the younger kids swimming, and the women catching some rays, and catching up with each other.  I plan to be very American and eat cheeseburgers and popsicles for lunch!

This year I wanted to bake my own cake so that is what I did! I stumbled upon this cute baking tray at PartyCity and I could not resist! I can create my very own Hello Kitty cake! I have always loved baking and decorating, so I knew this would be a really fun project.  Icing my cake was easy, the hard part was having to perfect the details freehand.  I am not artistic by any means, but I think the cake turned out cute!

Now it’s time to focus on the really important topic of the day, what I’ll be wearing by the pool!

Guess has some perfect bikini’s for the Fourth of July.  Tons of reds and stripes to fit the occasion.  On this glorious day, I am sticking with a bandeau style to minimize those tan lines!  Guess’s Stepp’n Out Bandeau Bikini Top and Bottom in Red is perfect for the occasion.  Splendid as always, has a great cover up! This Splendid Suzy Hooded Dress is so comfortable and will be easy for me to slip in and out of while I am by the pool!  Adding some key accessories such as star studded earrings, a light tan fedora, and some trendy sunglasses will help complete my Fourth of July poolside look.

Wherever you are celebrating, SwimSpot wishes you a fun and safe holiday!

  • Look Good, Feel GoodFall is finally here! Time to dig up those scarves, boots, and cardigans buried deep inside your closet. In terms of fashion, this is definitely my favorite time of year – I especially love the bold pops of color that are trending this season. And of course, the layers! But unfortunately, being bundled up in sweaters and coats doesn’t quite give me the motivation to work out. I won’t be sporting a bikini any time soon anyways so what’s the point, right? Wrong! We’re all aiming for that perfect beach body once Spring rolls along, so why not start working for it now? Getting toned and fit is a gradual process—although I’m sure we all wish it would happen overnight. Swimsuit season will be coming around the corner before you know it, so save yourself from the intense dieting and exercise the week before spring break and start now!
