Upper Class Label and LoveArt&

In my day-to-day life, I feel like I never have any extra spare time.  I feel like I barely have enough “me” time.  However, there are so many busy girls just like me that are spending their extra time giving back to their local community.  These ladies are contributing to improve the lives and world around themselves, and around us.

Upper Class Label is a women’s clothing line that is classy, versatile, and extremely amazing in my opinion.  The founder, Laura Mendrin, is a So Cal gal who has a passion for fashion and art.  She was inspired to create high fashion designs that the average woman could still comfortably wear.  With the launch of each of her new collections, Laura teams up with a non-profit to support their cause through sales. She is determined to not only design fashionably chic and stylish looks, but also make a difference in other’s lives.  Laura’s muse for her most recent collection is LoveArt&.   This particular organization empowers youth and provides them with access to art, culture, and nature.

On Tuesday July 12, Upper Class Label and LoveArt& hosted their first collaborative event supporting the Next Up Foundation at the Boys & Girls Club of Anaheim.  The event focused on the Boys & Girls Club kids creating one-of-a-kind pieces of art, and of course, learning how to skateboard! A combo often seen daily at local Boys & Girls Clubs around the nation.  At the event, Upper Class Label and LoveArt& helped local, underprivileged children create customized kites from recycled materials, decorative custom t-shirts, and mini bamboo plywood murals releasing their inner Picasso.  The event was the first of three from the collaboration.

Giving back to your community is good for the soul.  Through the effort, your spirits are lifted and your life is given more meaning. While our society focuses on celebrities and what they’re eating for lunch, we really should be focusing our energy and mindshare like Laura, taking time out of our busy lives, making a difference.  A real difference.

My challenge to you – and to me - this summer, make it a priority to donate some time to a local charity or cause in your community.  If you’re in Southern California, reach out and donate your time to Upper Class Label and LoveArt& this summer!!! Check out their Facebook Page for more information!

Here at SwimSpot, we take just as much pride in supporting our local community as we do in being the #1 women’s swimwear retailer in the world.

  • Look Good, Feel GoodFall is finally here! Time to dig up those scarves, boots, and cardigans buried deep inside your closet. In terms of fashion, this is definitely my favorite time of year – I especially love the bold pops of color that are trending this season. And of course, the layers! But unfortunately, being bundled up in sweaters and coats doesn’t quite give me the motivation to work out. I won’t be sporting a bikini any time soon anyways so what’s the point, right? Wrong! We’re all aiming for that perfect beach body once Spring rolls along, so why not start working for it now? Getting toned and fit is a gradual process—although I’m sure we all wish it would happen overnight. Swimsuit season will be coming around the corner before you know it, so save yourself from the intense dieting and exercise the week before spring break and start now!
