When 12 coastal babes get together its either magic or chaos. VYB was a little (or a lot) of both. Meet the minds behind VYB and see why this eco-conscious line is making such a splash in swim.
We sat down with the VYB Swim Head Designer, Holly Swope and Head Marketing Director, Holly Harshman to get a closer look at the brand that makes ‘sustainable’ sexy.
How did VYB Swim come about? VYB was created by 12 coastal babes, some content creators and some designers, that are really passionate about eco-friendly suits. All of our suits are made from deadstock fabric from right here in our factory.
We used the factory as a really inspiring place, we found fabrics that weren’t being used and would to go to waste, so we upcycled them- cut them up into new little awesome bodies to gave them a second life.
Who is the VYB girl? Collectively as a brand, we wanted to make sure we capture all the millennials. Even though we are based here on the west coast, we really wanted to focus in on this consumer but capture all her moods. We found out she’s not always the same. VYB is a brand that relates to her feelings in that given moment.
How did you capture these different “vybs”? We have many vibes within the collection, and we wanted to make sure we captured all that related to the VYBTribe. We have the ‘Rebel Soul’ group; a little more rocker edgy. Then we have ‘Made For Lovers’ group which is more feminine, then ‘Tidal Babe’, for the surfer girl side.
‘She’s a Gypsy’ group is a bit more bohemian and ‘Cold as Ice’ which is our sassy glam girl.
AND finally we have ‘Vitals’, which is our core collection and that can circle back into the rest of the vibes.
